Surviving the College Experience: One Thing Left to Do... Win

As a college student, there are countless moments that shape your undergraduate experience. For me, it was my tenure as associate design editor and creative director of The Quinnipiac Chronicle. Reflecting on those years, I've come to realize that one thing I learned is the importance of taking a win when you get the opportunity.

In hindsight, I wish I could have appreciated my accomplishments more during my time at the paper. I was notoriously hypercritical of myself and the work I produced, often feeling unsatisfied with every project I worked on. I would spend hours pouring over layouts, graphics, and photos, nitpicking every detail, convinced that there was always something better to be done.

Looking back, it's clear that this constant striving for perfection held me back from truly enjoying my time at the Chronicle. Every week, as I picked up the paper, I would see our publication and think about all the things we could have done differently. It was a never-ending cycle of self-doubt and criticism.

But then something shifted. As I continued to take on new challenges and opportunities, I began to realize that it's okay to not be perfect. In fact, it's necessary to acknowledge our limitations and move forward despite them. When I finally let go of my need for perfection, I was able to truly enjoy the experience.

As I look back on my time at the Chronicle, I'm reminded of the countless memories we created as a team. From covering our first volleyball match as contributors to witnessing the growth and development of our publication, it was an incredible journey.

While those early photos may be laughable now, they represent a moment in time that I will never forget. It's a reminder that even when things don't turn out exactly as we envisioned them, we can still find joy and pride in what we've accomplished.

So to all the college students out there, I urge you to remember that it's okay to not be perfect. Take the wins when they come, and don't be too hard on yourself when things don't go according to plan. In the end, it's the journey – not the destination – that truly matters.
